Corporate Officer and Vice President, Global Public and Government Affairs, Alcoa
Daniel Cruise joined Alcoa in October 2009 as Vice President of Public and Government Affairs, responsible for global, national, state and local governmental and regulatory affairs and other public matters for the company. He oversees the Company’s trade strategy and political risk assessment around Alcoa’s global manufacturing locations. In February 2011, Daniel was elected an Officer of the Company by Alcoa’s Board of Director.
Daniel joined Alcoa from the Albright Stonebridge Group, a global business advisory group, where, as Managing Director, he ran the New York office. Prior to this position, he specialized in public affairs, investor relations and financial communications at Clark & Weinstock.
During the Clinton Administration, Daniel worked at the White House as Assistant Press Secretary for Foreign Affairs and Director of Public Affairs for the National Security Council. He worked extensively to secure passage of a landmark bill normalizing trade relations between the U.S. and China. Daniel also served as Director of Public Affairs for the International Trade Administration at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Prior to his public service, Daniel worked for J. P. Morgan & Company.
Born in the U.S., Daniel was raised in Paris, where his parents worked. He graduated from Brown University, where he founded The Brown Journal of World Affairs. He holds a Masters of Philosophy degree from the University of Cambridge where he served as Editor-in-Chief of The Cambridge Review of International Affairs.
Daniel is Co-Founder and Chairman of the Board of the National Security Network and is a life member at the Council on Foreign Relations. In 2011, he was recognized by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. He is a Board Member of the National Association of Manufacturers and is a member of the International Policy Committee of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Daniel lives in New York with his wife and three sons.
