ESR Webinar Series: Auditing skills for conducting an ESR

February 18 2009, 12:00pm - 1:30pm

Companies depend on the services that healthy ecosystems provide such as freshwater, wood, water purification, pollination, natural hazard protection, among others. Degradation of these “ecosystem services,” therefore, can pose a number of risks to corporate performance as well as create new business opportunities. Unfortunately, many companies often fail to make the connection between the health of the ecosystems and the business bottom line.

The Corporate Ecosystem Services Review (ESR) is designed to address this need. It is a structured methodology that helps managers develop strategies to manage their risks and opportunities arising from their company’s dependence and impacts on ecosystems.

Since its launch this March, over thirty corporations have used the ESR and scores of others are gearing-up to use the methodology. As a result, demand for expertise in ecosystem services and its application to corporate environmental auditing are on the rise. This webinar series will introduce ecosystem services and provide guidance on how to integrate the ESR into environmental management and auditing.

Who should participate

We encourage attendance of senior environmental managers, strategic environmental consultants, green house gas emission auditors, ISO certifiers, experts in environmental impact assessments, risk managers, environmental assessors, among others. Participants will specialize in a range of industries including manufacturing, mining, and forestry, as well as a range of specializations such as carbon inventories, reporting, product development, and monitoring.
