EarthTrends Is No Longer An Active Project
As of December 2010, WRI no longer actively maintains EarthTrends or its data collections.
WRI has no plans to continue support for EarthTrends and cannot respond to requests for information
or assistance. However, the site is still available for your convenience,
with the understanding that the data sets available here may be out of date,
and in many cases more recent information is available elsewhere.
While WRI can no longer actively continue EarthTrends on our own, we would welcome interest
from organizations that may wish to partner or acquire EarthTrends to continue its mission of providing
environmental information and insights. Interested organizations should contact Robin Murphy,
Vice President of External Relations at WRI
(rmurphy@wri.org).
If You Are Looking For More Current Information
Unfortunately, WRI can no longer respond to information requests regarding the Earthtrends website.
However, every data set, table and map on EarthTrends includes a citation at the bottom of the page for
the original data or research. Many of these citations include hyperlinks. In many cases,
the originating source updates their data periodically, and there may be a more recent update available.
Use the citation and hyperlinks to identify and contact the originating source.
Here are some other websites from WRI and other organizations that you may find useful:
- WRI Publications. On average, WRI produces over 50 new reports a year, many of which include data sets that are available in the report or separately.
- Climate Analysis Indicators Tool. CAIT provides a comprehensive and up-to-date database of greenhouse gas emissions data and other climate-relevant indicators at both the country and U.S.-state level.
- The World Bank. The World Bank's World Development Indicators are now freely available online, and more data sets and microdata collections are coming online all the time. The World Development Indicators data sets include indicators for many aspects of global development, including agriculture, energy, environment, health, infrastructure and poverty, to name just a few.
- EPA Data Finder. This site is a single place to find a vast selection of EPA data sources, organized into topics such as air and water that are in easily downloadable formats.
- Envirofacts. Another portal for environmental data maintained by the U.S. EPA.
- FAO Stat. FAOSTAT provides time-series and cross sectional data relating to food and agriculture for some 200 countries.
- International Energy Agency. IEA has very comprehensive energy production and consumption information for most countries.
