About The EarthTrends Poverty Resource |
The Poverty Resource is a special section of the EarthTrends website that links several areas of ongoing work at the World Resources Institute. First, it presents the conceptual framework for the linkages between poverty, ecosystems, and governance elaborated by the 2005 World Resources Report. Second, it contains a series of country profiles that describe important aspects of human well-being. Third, the site serves as a repository for the subnational datasets compiled by the World Resources Institute from many sources, including The World Bank, The Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN), and Demographic and Health Surveys. The site currently houses over 70 regional or provincial maps and datasets on poverty, human development, and health. In late 2005, this collection will expand to include datasets of higher resolution.
The Poverty Resource is a special collection within EarthTrends an online repository of information regarding the environmental, social, and economic trends that shape our world. Committed to the principle that accurate information drives responsible decisions by governments and individuals, EarthTrends offers the public a large breadth of statistical, graphic, and analytical data in easily accessible formats. Our users range from individuals who influence environmental policy whether in governments, academia, corporations, think-tanks, or other civil society groups to educators, students, and the public at large.
