| Abstract: The Sirajganj Local Governance Development Project (SLGDP) is an innovative effort toward poverty alleviation through encouraging local governance initiatives. Started in 2000, this US$ 9 million project is the first and only one of its kind in Bangladesh. Cofunded by the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), UNDP and the Government of Bangladesh it helps the Central Government increase democratic and participatory decentralization by empowering local governments and stakeholders to effectively deliver and access public services. |
