Dr. Lee Schipper, EMBARQ fellow at EMBARQ - The World Resources Institute Center for Sustainable Transport, has been appointed as an editorial board member of the prestigious Transport Policy journal, the official journal of the World Conference on Transport Research Society.
As a board member, Schipper’s duties will include maintaining and improving the standards and the quality of the journal by monitoring its editorial policy, refereeing papers, submitting original papers, and actively encouraging colleagues and peers to submit high-quality papers for publication.
“This appointment represents an exciting and well-deserved recognition of Lee’s contributions to the world of transport research and his passion for sharing his insights,” said Nancy Kete, director of EMBARQ.
Transport Policy is an international journal aimed at bridging the gap between theory and practice in transport. Its original and rigorous analysis is aimed at an audience of policymakers, industry officials, and the public at large.
“Dr. Schipper is one the world’s foremost researchers in the area of transportation and energy and I am delighted that he will join the editorial board of Transport Policy,” said Shamus O’Reilly, publishing editor at Elsevier Ltd., which publishes the journal.
Prior to joining EMBARQ, Schipper was transport advisor to the Shell Foundation. He is also currently a visiting scholar at the University of California Transport Center in Berkeley. From 1995 until 2001, he was a senior scientist at the International Energy Agency in Paris. Schipper was a senior scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in California, and is also a member of the Sustainable Transport Committee of the National Academy of Sciences. He was honored recently for his contribution, while at LBNL, to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change 2 and 3, which shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore.
