This morning, a 31-member coalition of major corporations and environmental groups announces the release of its Blueprint for Action. USCAP members will also testify before the U.S. House Energy and Commerce Committee and brief members of the Obama Transition Team. Here are some statements from one of the United States Climate Action Partnership’s leaders, World Resources Institute President Jonathan Lash, on the new detailed plan set forth today:

“The health of our economy and the safety of our climate are inextricably linked, except nature doesn’t do bail-outs. USCAP has redefined what is possible. If the diverse membership of USCAP can find common ground, Congress can agree on effective legislation.”
On what USCAP means for the economic crisis:
“The members of USCAP recognize that the economic recovery we all hope for depends upon new investment in new technology that creates new jobs. That recovery can only be sustained if we invest in the technologies and jobs of the future, building the efficient, low-carbon economy of tomorrow. Cap-and-trade will help create the markets we need for tomorrow.”
On what USCAP means to the rest of the world:
“USCAP sends a message to the rest of the world that the U.S. is moving towards controlling its emissions. The group explicitly urges the incoming administration to lead on climate change domestically and to not wait for other countries to act.”
The World Resources Institute is an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to create practical ways to protect the earth and improve people's lives.
