WHAT:
City officials, urban advocates and transportation experts will discuss how online tools can make transportation more efficient, user-friendly and sustainable in Washington, D.C. Panelists and roundtable discussion groups will explore best practices of blogging, citizen journalism, open data, government transparency and online civic engagement to improve collaboration in D.C.’s transport sector. During the event, the District Department of Transportation will also announce a new website designed to gather suggestions from residents on where they think the new D.C. bike stations should be located. The event, hosted by EMBARQ - The World Resources Institute Center for Sustainable Transport, is scheduled as part of Digital Capital Week, a 10 day festival focused on technology, innovation and all things digital in our nation’s capital.
