How much sustainable development can we expect from the Clean Development Mechanism?

While many assessments of the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) have asked how much the mechanism can reduce greenhouse gas emissions, less attention has been given to the question of how far the CDM will advance sustainable development goals, even though the mechanism’s success rests on meeting both objectives.

WRI researchers teamed up with collaborators in Brazil, China and India to assess the development benefits of potential CDM projects.
