Environmental Stories to Watch in 2005

What’s coming up in 2005 for global warming, ecosystems, poverty and the environment?

Will the second Bush Administration act on global warming? Or will the solution lie in the hands of US state and city officials and the business community? What do two major studies on the state of the world’s ecosystems, and poverty and the environment mean for the USA?

These – and other issues that on the horizon for 2005 – were discussed by WRI President Jonathan Lash at a National Press Club briefing on December 21, 2004.

Jonathan Lash has served as co-chair of the President’s Council on Sustainable Development and was Vermont’s Commissioner of Environmental Conservation. He is a member of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development’s Round Table on Sustainable Development; the Trade and Environment Policy Advisory Committee of the United States Trade Representative; Japan’s Keidanren Committee on Nature Conservation; and the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development.
