Alemayehu is a GIS Analyst with the Energy Access Explorer team, based in Addis Ababa. He has already been fundamental to EAE’s successful adoption in Ethiopia, including the establishment of the Working Group in collaboration with the Ministry of Water and Energy and several stakeholders in the country.

Before joining WRI, Alemayehu worked as an environmental planner for a regional development spatial plan project at UNDP/UN-Habitat Ethiopia. He also worked with various consulting firms in the areas of energy, GHG inventory, waste management, and environmental impact assessment. More than a decade of his experience involves teaching, research, consulting, training, and community services in the areas of environment, climate change, and urban development.

Alemayehu holds an MSc in Advanced Studies in Human Ecology from Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Belgium, after receiving a two-year full scholarship from VLIR-UOS. He also has an MSc in Population Studies from Addis Ababa University and a BEd in Geography from Dilla University in Ethiopia.
