About Dan
Dan Hammer is the Chief Data Scientist at WRI. He directs operations of the Data Lab, which humbly attempts to leverage big data and scalable analysis for environmental applications.

Dan has previously worked at the Center for Global Development, Resources for the Future, the World Bank, and various tech start-ups. He continues to teach statistics and algebra at San Quentin State Prison as part of the Prison University Project. He is a board member for the Bay Area Tropical Forest Network and falsely takes credit for organizing the EcoHack conference.
Dan is pursuing a PhD at UC Berkeley and finalizing a masters in geospatial information science from the University of Maryland. He graduated with high honors in economics and mathematics from Swarthmore College, where he was a Lang Scholar and a Watson Fellow.
