About Lubaina

Lubaina is an Associate-Urban Development and Accessibility at at WRI’s EMBARQ India programme. She coordinates projects on improving integration between land use and transportation in areas adjoining transit nodes within Mumbai. She works closely with the Mumbai Transformation Support Unit (MTSU), providing guidance and support on various projects related to urban development, access to transit and pedestrian accessibility.

Prior to EMBARQ, Lubaina worked at the City of Emeryville and the City of Berkeley in California, USA, where she provided GIS support and research support for their programs. She has also worked with the research and design cells at the Kamla Raheja Vidhyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA) on projects of urban relevance in Mumbai. She has three years of teaching experience in institutions in India and the United States.

Lubaina is an Architect and Urban Planner from Mumbai. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from KRVIA, Mumbai, India and a Dual Master’s degree in Architecture and City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley. Her concentration has been in housing and community development with a strong focus on issues of urban poverty.
