About Raquel
Raquel is the financial manager for the Measurement and Performance Tracking (MAPT) project within WRI’s Climate and Energy Program. She is responsible for budgeting across seven research components that span three WRI programs, processing sub-grants and research agreements to numerous in-country partners, tracking cost share across multiple projects, complying with funder reporting requirements, and developing systems to track spending, payments and contracts.

Previously, she worked closely with the International Climate Action and the Major Emerging Economies Initiatives at WRI as the international initiatives coordinator. Her responsibilities included: supporting the program on a variety of activities, including administrative & logistical support, events coordination, and database & financial management. She was also the United Nations Climate Change Conference contact point for WRI. Prior to WRI, Raquel was a program associate at Men’s Health Network, a small non-profit focused on the health of men and their families.
Raquel attended the University of Miami where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Psychology and a minor in Foreign Languages. While at the University of Miami, she participated in summer abroad programs in Santiago, Chile and Santander, Spain.
Raquel is half Brazilian, half Cuban and was born and raised in Brazil. She speaks Portuguese and Spanish fluently. She loves traveling, eating great food, and reading. Raquel lives in Arlington, VA with her partner, Owen, their dog, Luna, and their fish, Bubbles.
