About Terry

Terry Brncic is the Regional Advisor and Coordinator for WRI in Central Africa. Based in Kinshasa, DRC, Dr. Brncic coordinates projects in 6 countries within the Congo Basin - Gabon, Cameroon, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Congo. These projects focus on the use of remote sensing and spatial information systems (GIS) to produce interactive forest atlases and related analysis - all designed to increase access to forest information and enhance sustainable forest management in the Congo Basin.

Dr. Brncic holds a Ph.D. in Tropical Forest Ecology from the Oxford Forestry Institute, Oxford University, UK and a B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of Arizona. She is an ecologist and environmental specialist with a background in rigorous, cutting-edge scientific research and more than 10 years of applied project management experience in Africa, notably in the DRC, CAR, Congo and Sierra Leone related to factors impacting forest conservation, including climate change, agriculture, extractive industries, fire, and protected areas management.
