About Yingzhen
Yingzhen Zhao is a Research Analyst for the International Financial Flows and Environment (IFFE) project. Her work focuses on emerging actors in development finance, in particular on identifying and pursuing opportunities to strengthen the environmental and social standards in China’s overseas investment. She also researches China’s role in international climate finance and global renewable energy financing.

Prior to joining WRI, Yingzhen spent nine months at Conservation International (CI) scoping and developing CI’s climate finance policy engagement. Previously, she interned with AccountAbility, a corporate responsibility think tank and advisory firm, on scaling up the impact of voluntary environmental and social standards.
Yingzhen has a Master’s degree in International Affairs focusing on environment and natural resources from the Elliott School of International Affairs, George Washington University. As a Chinese national, Yingzhen obtained a B.A. in History and International Studies from Peking University in China and studied abroad at the Australian National University.
