This map was created based on U.S. Department of Energy data (DOE, 2001). The DOE database was edited (to reflect country name differences) and linked to an ESRI global country digital file (ESRI, 1996).

Map Description
This map illustrates per capita carbon emissions (in tons) at a country-level. The highest per capita emissions are found in the U.S., followed by Canada, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. Alternatively, most countries in Africa, Asia, and South America depict low per capita carbon emissions.
