DATA TABLES

You are in the "Data Tables" section of the EarthTrends text site. The World Resources Institute synthesizes country and region-level information into two-page data tables which give a global picture of a certain environmental, social or economic area. This information comes from a variety of of data providers who supply the World Resouces Institute with the data that they collect. In this web site, find over 40 tables organized into 10 topic areas. Each table includes in-depth technical and source notes. You will also find references or hyperlinks back to the original source for each of the tables' variables.

The data tables section of this site will be useful for those wishing to make inter-country comparisons. Each data table can be downloaded into a comma-seperated value (CSV) spreadsheet which can be opened in Microsoft Excel, Quattro Pro or virtually any spreadsheet software. Data tables are also available in Excel and Adobe PDF format.

To access the data tables, click first on any one of the themes below and then select a data table from the list on that page. On each page, you will find links to "View Technical Notes" and "Download Data". The "View technical Notes" links brings up an external window which gives a comprehensive overview of how the data were collected and how reliable they are. Technical Notes are available in plain text (.TXT) and Microsoft Word (.DOC) format. The "Download File" links will launch an external window which contains the data table. To save this information to your hard drive, right click on the link and select "Save Target As . . ." We welcome and value feedback from our users. If you find an error, have a suggestion, or would like to tell us how you are using EarthTrends information, send an email to earthtrends@wri.org
